Cultural awareness is the foundation of communication. People interpret events in different ways. What is considered appropriate behavior in one culture is frequently inappropriate in another. Misunderstandings arise when people use their own meanings to define another's reality.
Becoming aware of our own cultural dynamics is not easy and guessed similarities could lead to misinterpretation.
